Botdown!
Preserve energy, dig, explore, and collect precious ore to upgrade your ship in this old-school (textmode) exploration game within a lightly randomized moon mine. Styled after games like motherload and steamworld dig, this exploration game puts your patience to test! You're a hyperintelligent mouse mining the moon in search of a lost robot. Good luck on your mission. We're counting on you.
Controls
Arrow keys to move. Up uses Jets, all movement burns fuel.
P To play, enter closes a text box.
Playing it
Use the HTML-based web-player (runs a dos emulator in browser)! (Needs keyboard to play)
This game doesn't work in dosbox by default -- works in Zeta, a DOS emulator for ZZT games (that uses cycles=max to ensure the game runs as expected.), bundled with the web html player for easy compatibility.
Background
This game is related to (at least) two other games I've made, go check out the two 2.4hour games I made: its direct prequel, bombpt, and the game it's a direct prequel to: bomodi.
This game is about preserving just the right amount of energy, balancing speed of digging, (as part of the theme of the RGDC gamejam)
Game Crashing when going to the store in Safari?
Note: I had a report of a bug in safari when using the store (due to autosave). If this is preventing you from playing, use cmd + ? and in the text box that appears, type +nosave, to disable the store autosave. You can manually save with "s" instead. (Or just use an alternative browser)

Loved it! Very fleshed out and polished for a jam game. Enjoyed the silly narrative and the gameplay loop. The upgrade system and difficulty felt well balanced throughout the whole game. Shame about the cheese, though.
Amazing!
Thanks for your kind comments.
Agree on the cheese! -- The prequel and sequel touch lightly on the mouse a bit more https://jakeout.itch.io/bombpt-complete-edition and https://jakeout.itch.io/bomodi, if you enjoyed the narrative bits!
